Meet our Team

Francisco L. Dofeliz, MD

Graeson

Medical Director

Dr. Francisco L. Dofeliz, M.D. is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and a member of the American Society of Ketamine Physicians, Psychotherapists and Practitioners (ASKP3).

Dr. Dofeliz’ story started in Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines. As a child, he had a fear of needles and injections. This made every doctor’s visit difficult but he was in awe of the medical staff who were always able to soothe his fears and calm him down. They were his inspiration in pursuing a medical degree. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from De La Salle University and completed his Doctor of Medicine degree at St. Luke’s College of Medicine. Later on, his interests led him to pursue post-graduate studies in Biomedical Science at Kingston University London, where he majored in Medical Microbiology. He then completed his Family Medicine residency training at The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. After graduation, he practiced primary care at Mt. Grant General Hospital in Hawthorne, Nevada and at Chinese Hospital Outpatient Center in Daly City, California.

Dr. Dofeliz’ interest in ketamine was brought about by his desire to help his patients suffering from mental health disorders. Current mainstream medications didn’t seem to help many of his patients, so he began to research other treatment options. He was impressed by the clinical success of ketamine treatments and once again decided to follow his inspiration and co-founded RADIANCE KETAMINE CLINIC.

His story continues with you.

Greg Jones, CRNA, MS, BSN

Greg
Clinic Director

Greg is a board-certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA). He also graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a second specialty as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Greg enjoys giving back to his community by serving as a board member for both the Nevada Association of Nurse Anesthetists and the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Advisory Committee for the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

Prior to specializing in anesthesia, Greg worked as a pediatric nurse at Primary Children’s Medical Center and an emergency room nurse at Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also served as the clinical director of Maliheh Free Clinic, providing free medical services to those without insurance. While at the clinic, he saw the crippling effects that mental health disorders can have on people’s lives. His compassion for those suffering from these debilitating conditions grew as he heard their stories and saw their pain.

Greg was first introduced to ketamine over 10 years ago as an anesthesia student. He was amazed by its ability to help patients endure extremely painful procedures with minimal discomfort. As a result, he began regularly incorporating ketamine into his anesthetic practice and saw incredible results. The most impressive of which was for major spine surgery. He found that those that received ketamine during surgery woke up with less pain and required less medication during the postoperative period.

One day while working at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), he went to interview his patient prior to surgery. During the conversation, the patient asked Greg if he would give him some ketamine while he was asleep. Surprised by this, he asked the man the purpose of his unique request. The patient said that he was a psychiatrist and had suffered from major depression since he was a young boy. He then mentioned that he had read a number of studies describing ketamine’s impressive anti-depressant effects. He was intrigued and wanted to see if ketamine would work for him. Greg obliged to the request and was excited to talk with the man when he woke up. To Greg’s delight, the man said that he felt remarkably better and was sure that it was a result of the ketamine. That night, Greg went home and began researching ketamine’s effect on depression and other mental health. His fascination grew and eventually inspired him to co-found RADIANCE KETAMINE CLINIC. Greg finds great satisfaction in talking with his patients and hearing how ketamine has truly changed their lives.

When not at the clinic, Greg provides independent anesthesia services at a variety of medical offices in the greater Reno area. He also enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time outdoors, attending cultural and artistic events and singing in the Nevada Gay Men’s Chorus.

Shawna Hewson, RN

Shawna

Assistant Clinic Director

Shawna wears multiple hats at Radiance: she serves as the assistant clinical director, oversees risk and compliance, and loves her connection time with patients as a staff RN.

Her journey began in the cardiac ICU, but a profound calling towards mental health nursing drew her to serving underserved populations. After years as an administrative nurse leader, Shawna became disillusioned with conventional mental health treatments, believing that addressing the spiritual aspect alongside medical protocols yields greater impact. Shawna's mission is to help those remember the sacred nature that already exists within them, and to assist in the release of shame through self love and empathy practices. She views mental health as deeply personal and advocates for tailored approaches to trauma recovery.

Outside of work, Shawna finds joy in reading, spending time with her dogs, hiking, and water sports with loved ones. Her personal pursuits include exploring psychedelic studies and advancing her knowledge in alternative modalities, aligning with her aspiration to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

Shawna and the Radiance family aim to foster a comprehensive approach to healing and personal growth, integrating profound experiences into transformative journeys.

After graduating she took the opportunity to take a break and experience what made Nevada famous and became a blackjack dealer. Despite the fun of winning for the house, medicine was calling.

I was born in rural Alabama, and moved Westward at 20 years old. While in Crested Butte, CO, I earned a Bachelor Degree in Recreation and Outdoor Leadership, as well as a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. After working in the ski industry for a few years, I decided to pursue a career in nursing. I attended nursing school in Ft. Collins, CO, and then worked in the ICU there for 4 years before moving further west to Truckee, CA.

I have worked in Emergency Medicine since 2011 and still do today.

I have been formally trained by the Polaris Institute for Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. I have worked with ketamine in a clinical setting for 10+ years and believe wholeheartedly in the potential of psychedelic medicines.

My wife is an RN also. Together we have 2 beautiful children with whom we adventure around the Sierra Nevada and Tahoe Basin every day.

It's an honor to be a part of the team at Radiance. The love and integrity shared here is unlike any other clinical setting that I have ever experienced. It's a true honor to be part of your process and I'm proud to be here for you and your family.

Graeson Howland, MSW

Graeson
Social Worker/Patient Care Coordinator

Mental Health Ally and Chicken Wing Fanatic

I had severe depression and anxiety for 10 years. After fighting for my life I was able to put both in full remission with some uncommon dietary changes. I know what it's like to be at the bottom of a dark pit of depression looking up at everyone else going about their normal lives...

I am so grateful for every day without depression and anxiety. I work hard to help other people find their unique solutions. With a Master's Degree of Social Work in one hand and a decade of personal experience in the other, I work with you to help you find your unique solutions.

Ketamine has taken my breath away by how quickly it can help lift the black cloud of depression. I can't wait to see how it works for you.

I also love chicken wings. I have a running list of the top restaurants and flavors in Reno. If you see me around the clinic, ask me about it!

Justine Kinsley, MA

Graeson

Medical Assistant

Although I wasn’t born in Nevada, whenever asked if I was born and raised here or if I have always lived here, I do usually say yes because I moved here when I was 3 and have no memory of being anywhere else. I am a fur momma of 2 munchkin cats and their names are Sativa and Granite and I spend most of my free time at home with them just relaxing and working on some sort of art project (usually custom shoes). When I’m not home though, I’m usually out trying to find cool waterfalls or on vacation somewhere on a beach, in the Redwoods, or at a festival just enjoying life through music.

Giskin Bertolani, Medical Biller

In my 30-year career billing for many of Reno's top medical practices, I have worked in specialties from mental health to anti-aging. When I clock in your insurance company, you'd better get ready because I will hold them accountable for paying for this life-changing treatment for you (and after 30 years I know this industry like the back of my hand).

This is my first time working with psychedelic medicine but I am blown away by how much it helps our patients. My job is so satisfying because I get to work on your behalf to get you the treatment that you deserve and just may change your life.

I love the Reno area, my two sons, my granddaughter and my two dogs. If you see me around the office, ask me about the Netflix shows I've been watching lately
